Wonderful. Now, regarding this morning’s much-linked iPad-unboxing “infographic”, please look closely at one of its pretty-but-useless charts.
I’m not a dataviz expert; all I’ve done is read two of Edward Tufte’s marvelous books. This was enough to make me appreciate the art and science that goes into creating a good infographic. It’s a craft with its own language, a real field of expertise; not just some veneer of aesthetic sensibility.

Web Urbanist has a story on the works of Matthew Albanese. His photos represent stunning scenes of violent storms and the beauty of earth, but they are all created in his studio using string, cotton, wool, and sugar. To see the before and after photos of these works is mind blowing.
